Sherwet Hussein EL Gholmy
Prof. Sherwet Hussein El Gholmy Head of Textile Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, Egypt Prof. El Gholmy, recognized among the 100 most influential female engineers in 2021, is Egypt’s first professor in garment engineering. Since graduating in 1997, she has published around 40 research works, supervised numerous graduate theses, and developed Egypt’s first postgraduate fashion diploma. She established a CAD lab for garment engineering and contributed to setting national education standards with NAQAAE. She has led multiple training programs for the textile industry with organizations such as CATGO, ITC, and the Industry Modernization Center. As Head of Department, she promotes innovation, sustainability, and the modernization of Egypt’s garment sector.
